FISHING REPORT FOR AUGUST 30th, 2003
CENTRAL
Hefner: Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water 82 and clear. White bass good
everywhere around the lake with fish schooling on the surface. Little
georges, small rattle traps and rooster tails have proven effective.

Wes Watkins: Elevation 7 1/2- 8 1/2 ft. below normal, water 78-88 and
clear. Catfish fair on chicken livers, minnows and fresh cut bait in
deeper waters around dam tower and along main channel; crappie fair on
minnows and jigs around brushy areas, boat docks and along roadbeds; white
bass fair to good while trolling around main channel and dam area.
Largemouth bass fair to poor on assorted dark colored soft plastic. North
and south gates open at sunrise. Boats need to be off the water by

NORTHEAST
Bell Cow: Elevation below normal. Bass, catfish, and crappie being caught
on live minnows. Report submitted by G. Leaman, City of Chandler lake

Birch: Elevation 3 1/2 ft. below normal and clear. Largemouth bass fair on
plastics during the day and topwaters early and late; white bass fair on
live shad and trolling crankbaits; hybrid striped bass fair on live shad;
catfish fair on all baits; crappie fair on minnows and jigs at 12-20 ft.

Carl Blackwell: Elevation 3 ft. below normal, water 82 and murky.
Largemouth bass fair on buzzbaits and topwater baits; hybrid striped bass

Chandler: Bass, catfish and crappie were being caught on spinnerbaits.

Eucha: Elevation 4 ft. below normal, water 86 and clear. Channel and
flathead catfish good on juglines and trotlines using sunfish; crappie
good on jigs and minnows around brush at 12-15 ft.; bluegill good on

Greenleaf: Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal and clear. Largemouth bass
fair on spinnerbaits and crankbaits along shoreline; catfish good on shad
and sunfish on bottom; sunfish good on jigs and worms. Report submitted by

Hudson: Elevation normal, water 80 and clearing. Largemouth bass good in
Bass Haven Cove early in the mornings on topwater lures and later in the

Kaw: Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water 81 and murky. White bass good in
Ponca and Osage coves and Pioneer swim area; blue catfish good on fresh

Keystone: Elevation 5 ft. below normal and clear. White bass fair on
rooster tails off points. Striped bass fair on topwater lures and shad
below during generation; channel and blue catfish good on cut shad on
bottom all across the lake; crappie fair on minnows at 6-10 ft. around

Oologah: Elevation normal, water 80 and clear. Crappie fair on minnows and
jigs over brush piles at 20-25 ft.; white bass fair trolling main lake

Spavinaw: Elevation 1/4 ft. below normal, water 87 and clear. Largemouth
good on spinnerbaits and crankbaits; channel and flathead catfish good on
juglines and trotlines using sunfish and cut shad; crappie good on jigs

Tenkiller: Elevation 7 ft. below normal, water 89. Largemouth bass slow on
plastic worms at 25 ft.; crappie slow some action on jigs in brush at
12-25 ft.; catfish good on stinkbaits at 15-20 ft.; sunfish excellent on
worms at 15-20 ft. near docks or coves. Report by Monte Brooks, Cookson

Webbers Falls: Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal and murky. Largemouth
bass fair on spinnerbaits along riprap and creek channels; white bass fair
on fresh or live shad; catfish good on sunfish or shad. Report submitted

NORTHWEST
Canton: Elevation 1 ft. below normal. White bass and hybrid striped bass
fair drifting shad and slabs or trolling crankbaits early and late;
channel catfish fair in upper end of lake on shad and grasshoppers;
walleye fair drifting night crawlers and trolling deep diving crankbaits.

Ft. Supply: Elevation below normal and murky. White bass fair on jigs and
minnows along dam; channel catfish fair on stinkbaits shallow. Report

SOUTHEAST
Arbuckle: Elevation 2 ft. below normal, water 84 and stained. Channel
catfish fair on bait holes using doughbaits; crappie around brush piles on
minnows and jigs; white bass still surfacing, but not staying up long;
bass hitting on spider grubs from 3-20 ft. Report submitted by Jack
Melton.
Broken Bow: Elevation is 10 ft. below normal, water 87 and clear. The
dramatic lake level drop these last three weeks has made fishing very
tough. Most success coming on schooling white and spotted bass that are up
on top early and late. Small spoons and spinner baits effective. Still
plenty of crappie and white bass suspended in 30 feet of water over
thermocline. Jigs and minnows are good lures for these deep-running
schools. Some black bass action on humps in 25 feet on soft plastics.

Eufaula: Largemouth slow; white bass fair on slabs at 8-20 ft. in the
flats; channel catfish slow; crappie fair on minnows at 10-20 ft. under

Konawa: Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 94 and clear. Largemouth bass
good on crankbaits and topwaters along coves and off points; channel
catfish good on chicken liver at 10-16 ft. off points and around dam.

Lower Mountain Fork River: The powerhouse has been generating daily
starting between 1-3 p.m. So watch for rising water in zones 2 and 3. The
best approach has been to fish in zone 2 early in the morning then move to
zone 1 later in the day. The fly of choice varies from very small midges
to large streamers and everything in between. Here is a list of flies that
have been producing: hoppers, ants, beetles, wooly buggers, elk hair
caddis, stimulators, various soft-hackled flies, and as always many
different bead head nymphs. Zone 2 has been the star of the show lately,
but a large brown trout reported in zone 1. Report submitted by Sid

Murray: Elevation 1 1/2 ft. below normal, water 88 and clear. Bass slow
on minnows; catfish slow, try minnows and cut bait; carp slow on corn;
sunfish good on worms and power bait at fishing dock; walleye slow on
rattle traps along dam face; crappie slow but improving on minnows around

Pine Creek: Elevation 1 ft. above normal, water 85 and murky. Largemouth
bass fair on, soft plastics, topwater baits, and spinnerbaits, on main
points and deep creek channels; spotted bass fair on small crankbaits and
grubs; crappie good on minnows in creek channels 12-18 ft. Report

Texoma: Elevation 2 1/2 ft. below normal, water 84 and clear. Largemouth
bass fair on crankbaits at 5-10 ft. in creek channels; white and striped
bass good on sassy shad at 5-10 ft. in Burns Run; catfish fair on cut bait
at 5-10 ft. at Platter Flats. Report submitted by Danny Clubb, state game

Wister: Aug. 25. Elevation 1 ft. below normal, water 85 and murky.
Largemouth bass fair on topwaters and crankbaits early and late. Channel

SOUTHWEST
Foss: Elevation 1/2 ft. below normal, water 85. Gates are closed. Hybrid
striped bass and white bass good on slabs and minnows drifting at 20-30

Waurika: Elevation 20 ft. below normal, water 80 and murky. White bass and
hybrid striped bass fair trolling dam and flats; channel catfish fair on
cut shad on juglines; crappie fair on minnows in deep water around
